The purpose of Centerburg Christian Church is the the fulfillment of the Great Commission of Christ (Matthew 28:19-20).  We seek to attain this end through the public worship of God, the preaching of the Gospel at home and abroad, personal evangelism, Christian education, and the consistent testimony of its members in word and deed.  We stand without apology for the Bible as the Word of God, and seek to proclaim its contents and to live its message.  We desire to exalt Jesus Christ as the Son of God and the Savior of all who believe in Him.

We believe the Bible is God's infallible Word, written by men who were divinely and uniquely inspired, and that it is our supreme authority in all matters of faith and practice. We affirm our belief in the verbal and plenary inspiration of the Scriptures in their original autographs (2 Peter 1:20-21; 2 Timothy 3:16-17; Matthew 4:4; Matthew 5:18).

We believe in the triune Godhead, one God who exists eternally in three persons, God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit.

We believe in God the Father, Creator of heaven and earth, perfect in holiness, infinite in wisdom, and measureless in power. We rejoice that He concerns Himself mercifully in the affairs of men, that He hears and answers prayer, and that He alone saves from sin and death all who come to Him through Jesus Christ (1 Corinthians 8:6; Genesis 1:1; Psalm 147:5;1 John 5:14-15; Romans 10:13).

We believe in Jesus Christ, God's only begotten Son, born of a virgin, sinless in His life. We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of God, became man without ceasing to be God, in order that He might reveal God and redeem sinful man. We believe that He atoned for the sins of the world by His death on the cross. We believe in His bodily resurrection, His ascension into heaven, His High Priestly intercession for His people, and His personal, visible return to the world according to His promise (John 3:16; 1 John 4:9; Matthew 1:23; Hebrews 4:15; 1 Peter 2:24; Romans 8:34; Hebrews 7:25; Acts 1:11).

We believe in the Holy Spirit who came forth from God to convict the world of sin, of righteousness, and of judgment, and to regenerate, sanctify, comfort, and seal forever those who believe in Jesus Christ (John 16:7-11; Ephesians 1:12-14, 4:30).

We believe that all people are sinners by nature and by choice, but that "God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son that whosoever believes in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life" (John 3:16). We believe, therefore, that those who accept Christ as Savior and Lord shall forever be in God's presence, and that those who reject Christ as Savior and Lord will be forever separated from God (Romans 3:23; 2 Thessalonians 1:8-9,  John 5:11-12).

We believe that the local church is composed of regenerate, baptized believers, voluntarily united together for the purpose of worshiping God, the fellowship of believers, and the proclamation of the gospel of Christ throughout the world  (Acts 2:41, 46-47; Mark 16:15-16).

The government of Centerburg Christian Church is vested in its members, and it is subject to the control of no other ecclesiastical body.

We believe in a personal devil, called in the scripture, Satan, Wicked One, Dragon, Prince of the power of the air, god of this world, the Tempter, that Old Serpent, and the Devil.  He is the author of all the powers of darkness and sin, and is destined to the judgment of an eternal justice in the Lake of Fire. (Matthew 4:1-3; 2 Corinthians 4:4; 1 John 3:12; Ephesians 2:2, 3; revelation 20:1-3, 7-10)

We believe in a literal Heaven where Jesus Christ is now seated at the right hand of the Father.  At death the believer's soul is taken into Heaven to await reunion with the resurrected and glorified body.  Heaven is a prepared place of eternal bliss for a prepared people (John 14:1-3; 1 Corinthians 15:35-54; 2 Corinthians 5:1-8. 12:2-4; Ephesians 1:20, 20; Hebrews 1:3). We believe that all the redeemed, once saved, are kept by God's power and are secure in Christ forever (John 6:37-40, 10:27-30; Romans 8:1; 1 Corinthians 1:4-8; 1 Peter 1:5).

We believe in a literal Hell, described in scripture as a lake of fire, a place of torment, and the second death.  It is to be the final abode of Satan, the fallen angels, and all unbelievers, a place of conscious, unending punishment (Matthew 25:41; Revelation 20:10-15, 21:8).

We believe God designed marriage as a unique conjugal relationship joining one man and one woman in a single, exclusive, life-long union. God intends sexual intimacy to only occur between a man and a woman joined in marriage.

We believe that our distinctives are scripturally sound. They include the supreme authority of the Scriptures, the Competency of the individual soul in direct approach to God, the priesthood of all believers, a regenerate church membership, the ordinances of baptism and the Lord's Supper, the autonomy of the local church, the solemn obligation of majority rule within the church, with equal rights to all, the absolute separation of church and state, and a world-wide program of missionary endeavor in obedience to the final command of our Lord  (Hebrews 10:19-22; Acts 8:35-39; 1 Corinthians 11:23-34; Mark 16:15).
